The Syrian Al-Ekhbariya channel held the QSD militia and its American operator fully responsible for the safety and health of its reporter, Muhammad al-Saghir, who has been detained by the militia in its prisons since 2019.
The channel said in a statement today: "In response to the solidarity campaigns with the Syrian news reporter Muhammad al-Saghir, the escalation of international interest and the rise of free voices calling for his release from the detention of the Qasd militia, the American-backed militia is leaking false news about his death in its detention centers on social media platforms."
The channel added: "We confirm, based on reliable information, that the reporter, Muhammad al-Saghir, is alive, despite his deteriorating health and psychological condition for a while, and we renew the holding of SDF and its American operator fully responsible for his life, safety, health and freedom."
The channel renewed the demand for al-Saghir's release, stressing that such cheap attempts by the SDF to confuse its movement would not push it to silence or dissuade it, and every free voice demanded the immediate release of the young colleague.
And journalist Muhammad al-Saghir, born in 1968, worked in several Syrian media outlets and joined the Syrian News team as its correspondent in the city of Qamishli in 2014 and covered various local and field events and news. He was kidnapped on 6-7-2019 to date.
