Miesbach - The citizens of Miesbach have to be prepared for higher fees for the disposal of wastewater and rainwater in the coming year.

The city council unanimously approved the increase in force for the next four years, i.e. from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2025, at its most recent meeting.

While the wastewater fee is currently 1.49 euros per cubic meter and the rainwater fee is 28 cents, they are to be increased to 1.80 euros and 32 cents respectively.

The basis is a calculation by the Bavarian Municipal Auditing Association, which the city commissioned with the audit at the beginning of the year.

A recalculation was made for the period 2014 to 2017 and a preliminary calculation for the years 2021 to 2025. The finance department, the civil engineering office and the association for wastewater disposal in Schlierachtal (ZAS) were involved.

The fee increase is mainly due to the fact that too many fees were charged in the previous period (we reported).

This excess coverage was offset with lower tariffs in the current period from 2017 to 2021.

Now the fees will be increased again to the regular level.

The background is that the municipal tax law provides that the fees may only cover the eligible costs.

There is no provision for making a profit or for underfunding.
