Soon there will be no more local suppliers in Altenerding. The Edeka market on Ardeostraße closes on December 4th, Rewe on Zugspitzstraße on Christmas.

Soon there will be no more local suppliers in Altenerding.

The Edeka market on Ardeostraße closes on December 4th, Rewe on Zugspitzstraße on Christmas.

Altenerding - Rumors had been around for a long time, now it's official: The Rewe branch on Zugspitzstrasse in Altenerding is closing.

Nice presents: At Christmas of all times, the lights go out in the supermarket that opened in 1996.

It was opened in the course of the development in Altenerding-Süd.

What exacerbates the situation: On December 4th, the Edeka on Ardeostraße will also close.

The building is being demolished.

Erding district: Rewe and Edeka close in December - thousands of citizens affected

Until a new building is built here - Rewe is hoping for the contract - thousands of Altenerdingen residents will no longer have a local supplier.

14,000 people live here.

That weighs heavily because there are also many old people living in the district who can no longer shop on foot.

The next markets are Edeka in Sempt Park and Lidl in the Erding-Südwest industrial park.

After all: they are reasonably easy to reach with the city bus.

It is already being used by some older customers.

Line 520 runs from Altenerding or Setzbergweg to Aufhausen and then to Lidl (Otto-Hahn- / Max-Planck-Straße).

Lines 550 and 560 serve the whole of Altenerding and connect Hofmarkplatz and Münchener Strasse / Wendelsteinstrasse (Lidl) every 40 minutes, even on Saturdays.

Rewe and Edeka close in Altenerding: No plans to reopen

Rewe spokeswoman Ursula Egger informed our newspaper on request that Zugspitzstrasse would be locked forever on December 24th.

There are no plans for a reopening there.

As for the reasons, she explains that "unfortunately, sales have continuously declined over the past few years"

.

In addition, a large amount would have to be invested in building services.

This is not profitable

.

She did not want to confirm rumors that the property owner is afraid of the need for renovation, including ventilation, and is therefore no longer interested in subletting.

20 employees are affected by the closure.

"You have all been informed, individual discussions have taken place," said Egger.

"We want to employ everyone in other Rewe stores as far as possible."

Erding district: Rewe closure leaves gaping supply gap

Rewe is then aware of the gaping supply gap.

"That is why we are in talks with the landlord of the Edeka property and hope to be able to take over this location," said the spokeswoman.

The demolition of the Edeka store on Ardeostraße has already been decided.

It has been approved since the beginning of November, as has the construction of a new supermarket with a bakery and butcher at the same location on a floor area of over 2,000 square meters.

This became known on Tuesday evening at the meeting of the planning and construction committee of the city council and had Hans Fehlberger (Free Voters) ask what was happening in the course of the demolition work with the piped Neuhauser ditch that runs under the property.

City lawyer Andreas Erhard explained that the water would not be built over and could be exposed if necessary.

This is ensured in the building application and agreed with the water management office.

Since All Saints' Day there has been a new, innovative shopping facility in Erding's largest district - a vending machine station at the intersection of B 388 / Fuchsbergstrasse.

Behind it is the start-up of 26-year-old Ludwig Jocher from Erding and his friend Stefan Holzner (25).

The two have two other vending machine supermarkets - in the Hörlkofen through-town and in Forstinning.

It is an idea that was born out of necessity, reveals Jocher in an interview with our newspaper.

“I played in a band and Corona slowed us down.” From his own experience, he still knows well “that you always want to have something to eat or drink when all the shops are closed after a gig”.

Edeka and Rewe close: vending machine supermarket alternative?

That is why he founded the company "Aunt Emma 24" together with Holzner.

What always bothered him: "Either there are only drinks in the machines, only eggs or only meat and sausage," says Jocher.

Aunt Emma 24 is now much more broadly positioned.

“What is most talked about is that we also have caviar on offer,” says the young entrepreneur with a smile.

The prices range between those of the supermarkets and the petrol stations.

There is a reason for this, according to the young family man: he purchases a not inconsiderable part of the goods from supermarkets, such as Edeka in Hörlkofen.

“We don't want to take anything away from anyone.” And: “I also want to give regional producers the opportunity to sell their products here.” The response was good, “even though we have so far not done any advertising.

That is yet to come. "

Time and again there is talk of an oversupply of grocers in Erding - above all due to the settlement of three Aldi and two Lidl branches as well as other discounter branches.

In fact, the supply has shrunk in recent years.

The markets on Freisinger Strasse, Dorfener Strasse, Siglfinger Strasse / Rennweg, Landgestütstrasse and the Schönen Turm have disappeared.

Now the Altenerdinger Rewe store is being added.

And the new opening on Ardeostraße will also take some time.

In the recent past there has only been one real new opening: the Feneberg branch on Langenzeile in the city center.
