New corona infections are also increasing sharply in NRW.

They should be slowed down above all by stricter requirements for unvaccinated people.

But that also has to be checked.

Düsseldorf - In North Rhine-Westphalia, the stricter corona measures should come into force next week.

Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst (CDU) said on Friday in the WDR that he wanted to quickly implement the corona rules decided by the federal and state governments.

“That will be ready from next week.” On Friday afternoon, Wüst wanted to discuss the implementation and control of the new rules with the municipal umbrella organizations.

In view of the dramatically worsening situation, the federal and state governments decided on Thursday that unvaccinated people will no longer be allowed access to leisure events, restaurants, hotels and body-friendly services where a certain threshold for admission of corona patients to hospitals is exceeded. 2G is to apply here in the future, i.e. participation only for those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered. According to the federal-state resolution, the hospitalization rate will be decisive in future. The value indicates how many people infected with corona per 100,000 people came to the hospital in the past seven days. If the rate is above three, 2G should apply in the federal state.

If the hospital rate rises to more than six, 2G plus should apply.

In places where the risk of infection is particularly high - for example in discos, clubs and at carnival meetings - those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered must also submit a current negative corona test.

At the latest when the threshold value of 9 is exceeded, the federal states should then make use of further restrictions.

In NRW, the hospitalization incidence on Friday was 4.03.

The black and yellow NRW state government had already agreed on the introduction of the nationwide 2G and 2G plus rules last Tuesday before the federal-state talks, but had not yet linked them to a threshold value.

For all vaccinated or recovered people, the new measures meant “no further restrictions worth mentioning,” said Wüst in the WDR.

"We have a pandemic of the non-vaccinated".

The vast majority of the new corona cases affect people who have not been vaccinated.

These would have to be protected.

The new requirements should also give you an “impulse” to get vaccinated “to get out of this difficult situation”.

In the future, 3G will apply in buses and trains - only vaccinated, recovered or tested people may be transported.

Wüst stressed that this should be checked in bullet points, but regularly, in the WDR.

"Sampling does not mean: we all turn a blind eye and nobody cares, but sampling means: You have to expect that there will be controls at all times."

The Association of Cities and Towns in North Rhine-Westphalia welcomed the tightened corona measures.

"The situation is dramatic, all the more we need crystal-clear regulations and have to apply them consistently," said Managing Director Christof Sommer.

The security services of the municipalities made their contribution together with the police.

The strain on my colleagues has been immense for months.

“It is all the more urgent that we now have to get out of this wave quickly.

Working in a state of emergency cannot be done permanently. ”The key to the crisis remains vaccination.

Wüst assumes that the resolutions of the federal-state meeting will be able to break the infection dynamics in Germany.

“This is a first package that is supposed to avoid a lockdown again,” he said on RTL / ntv “early start”.

The corona incidence in North Rhine-Westphalia reached a record level.

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week on Friday was 200.9.

However, NRW is still well below the federal value, which was over 340 on Friday.

SPD opposition leader Thomas Kutschaty called for more speed in the implementation of the federal-state resolutions in North Rhine-Westphalia.

He requested a meeting of the state cabinet on Friday in order to put the new Corona Protection Ordinance with the 2G rule into force.

"We mustn't let the weekend go by anymore, there events take place, there soccer games take place," said the SPD state party leader on Friday on WDR5 radio.
