This spring, the Tölz author Sandra Freudenberg went on tour with her "Alpen Film Festival" - through the entire German-speaking area between Kiel and Bozen.

Without any funding, she made six short films in 50 cities and filled many halls with the support of mountain rescue services and local alpine clubs.

Kochel am See

- What began in May with rehearsals in Kochel and the premiere in Innsbruck came to a preliminary conclusion on Thursday evening in the Kochler home stage.

The screening in the Tölzer Capitol Cinema, which was canceled due to Corona, should be rescheduled later.

Sandra Freudenberg founded the “Alpen Film Festival” a year ago as the successor to the “Bavarian Outdoor Film Festival”: “With this we turned away from a format that is about top athletic performance - towards films that are about values goes, ”she emphasizes.

Nature and alpinism in the center

The “Alpen Film Festival” showed a 125-minute summary of six short films that continued to focus on nature and alpinism, or rather: people who have a personal relationship with the mountains and nature.

The last performance in Kochel with more than 30 visitors was "particularly emotional" for her, Freudenberg assures.

Steffen Wendler from the Kochler Kinoverein was "our best man", who gave the project a lot of logistical and performance support on a purely voluntary basis.

Kochel also had a very knowledgeable audience, which afterwards had a lot of inquiries.

At all 50 venues - the legendary call contact of the climbing scene from the rock faces above the Oberreintalhütte in the Wetterstein Mountains (from the film about Hermann Huber) formed the hearty conclusion of the event: Sandra Freudenberg shouted "Wed licking my ass" into the audience and they answered in the chorus: "And you mi aa!"

6000 visitors in total: a "huge success"

The film festival attracted a total of 6,000 visitors, a "huge success" for Sandra Freudenberg. The highlight for them was the evening in Munich with more than 200 visitors, at which Hermann Huber was also personally present. The 91-year-old, who has his retirement home in Gaißach, has "made the audience happy with his infectious amiability".

Tom Durer's short film "Vom Wert der Zeit" (The Value of Time) traces the life of the mountaineering legend Hermann Huber (a detailed report will follow).

"Lifelines - the story of two friends" by Frank Kretschmann is about the changing friendship of two Swiss extreme mountaineers.

"Building Bridges" and "Making Of Building Bridges" with Niklas Winter show the landscape and slacklining in Monument Valley (USA).

"Ski Vacation" by Raphael Webhofer is a comedy in the Ötztal dialect that ironically targets the self-satisfaction of the ski circus.

The film "Between" by Rolf Steinmann from Fischbachau about the extreme living conditions of the musk ox in the Arctic Circle is also a plea for the special need for protection in the Arctic.

What does it mean to live in and with the mountains?

That's what the movies are about

All films are about people and nature - and about human love: How this living space shapes the people who live there.

What it means to live in the mountains and with the mountains.

How these “mountain people” treat each other.

About their special cohesion, which can even connect continents.

Sandra Freudenberg says that these people could "overcome the boundaries of politics and culture".

The "Alpen Film Festival" shows their "community, passion and their joy in life".
