Fürstenfeldbruck - A decision on the application of the ÖDP not to make the Ochsenwiese available as a parking area for major events in the future was postponed.
The majority of the Environment Committee wants to obtain an opinion from Kathrin Zifreund, landscape planner in the town hall, beforehand.
The meadow would have "developed into a wonderful flowering meadow" during the lockdown, explained Alexa Zierl (ÖDP) the request of her parliamentary group. If bee protection and biodiversity are taken seriously, the area must be protected. Only flowering areas on the roadside were nowhere near enough.
The almost three hectare area between the train station and the monastery has been used for 15 years at large events of the event forum as additional parking space for visitors and offers space for well over 1,000 cars.
"Without this meadow, events that are of outstanding importance for the company, but also for the city and the district, would no longer be possible in their previous form," says the administration.
This includes the garden and vintage car days and the ANIMUC festival, which are attended by up to 45,000 guests.
"Should we lose the space, that would permanently damage our own operations," warned plant manager Norbert Leinweber from the event forum.
Götz calls for "more sense of reality"
For many committee members, however, the factual presentation on which the proposed resolution is based is too one-sided. "It's about nature conservation and not just about parking spaces", complained Thomas Brückner (Greens) that landscape planner Zifreund was not involved. BBV parliamentary group spokesman Christian Götz also criticized the fact that the bill unilaterally illuminates economic interests. First of all, you have to know “to what extent the temporary use of the parking space is damaging the meadow.” Nonetheless, he called for “more sense of reality”.
A bus shuttle from the Volksfestplatz to the event forum is associated with considerable costs. In addition, according to the administration, similar attempts “have so far been unsuccessful at other events in the Bruck urban area.” The handcart rental proposed in the application is already being offered at the garden days, but both measures “would not have the potential to replace the lost parking spaces for a long time,” argues Leinweber. Götz also does not believe that visitors are willing to transport purchased plants and garden items by bike or handcart or with a shuttle bus to the fairground, where they can park their cars.
The majority of the committee finally agreed to wait for Zifreund's expertise with a final resolution and to put the topic back on the agenda at one of the following meetings.
