Health Canada has approved the use of Pfizer's anti-coronavirus vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years.
And the Canadian Radio CBC website quoted the authority as saying in a statement, “After a comprehensive and independent scientific review of the evidence, we have determined that the benefits of this vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years outweigh the risks.”
The vaccine requires two doses of 10 micrograms for children aged 5 to 11 years, which is one-third of the adult dose.
The Canadian Immunization Advisory Committee recommends that these two doses be separated by eight weeks and that children not receive another vaccine, such as the influenza vaccine, 14 days before or after the Pfizer vaccine.
