A large number of rapid tests in the city of Munich are apparently contaminated.
How many employees have used these tests so far is still unclear.
Munich - Corona * trouble with the city of Munich *: 120,000 rapid tests are contaminated and therefore unusable.
The personnel department confirmed the relevant information from our newspaper on Friday (November 19).
Like other employers, the state capital offers its more than 40,000 employees the opportunity to do quick tests at least twice a week.
Among other things, the administration had acquired the DeepBlue product from the manufacturer Medical.
Rapid tests “DeepBlue” from the manufacturer Medical contained intestinal bacteria
Most recently it became known that a laboratory had detected two different types of bacteria in a test by the company, including the intestinal bacterium e coli.
A large number of the tests acquired by the city were apparently contaminated, as our newspaper learned from town hall circles.
"According to the current state of knowledge, we have to assume that two to three batches in the state capital are also affected by contamination," says the spokesman for the personnel and organization department, Tobias Stephan.
The information was immediately passed on to the employees - with the advice not to use the contaminated tests.
"Any contaminated tests that were still present in the departments and departments were immediately withdrawn from circulation."
City of Munich: No evidence of false negative test results
Based on the information provided by the manufacturer, the administration assumes that the contamination did not lead to a falsification of the test results.
There was no evidence that false negative test results were obtained.
"The city ordered a total of 290,000 tests from the manufacturer DeepBlue Medical and distributed them in full to the departments in May and September," says Stephan.
"According to initial projections, around 120,000 tests are affected by the contamination." The administration cannot determine how many employees have tested themselves with contaminated tests to date.
"We have no figures on this."
City of Munich: Employees can first be tested in pharmacies
The city offers its employees to be tested in pharmacies and corona test centers during working hours, until new self-tests have been procured.
"The employees have to present the proof of this to their superiors twice a week."
