While tens of thousands of spectators in the Bundesliga fill the football stadiums, most of the Christmas markets in Bavaria are currently being canceled.

The Dachau stand operator was also hit.

Since Wednesday they have no longer been busy with the construction, but with the dismantling.

Dachau

- That would have been the 40th Dachau Christmas Market this year. Were. The full stadiums are not the only thing that drives Christian Naumann, Chairman of the Dachau Christmas Market Association, and his fellow board members. In addition to Naumann, his board colleagues Manfred Sedlmair (second chairman) and Christian Hefele (treasurer) feel completely abandoned by the government. "We have now worked for two weeks for zero," says Sedlmair, who alone drove 350 kilometers the day before yesterday to bring back goods - he would have offered fire tongs punch. He doesn't even want to think about “the ecological balance” for this campaign. As the person responsible for the music program at the Christkindlmarkt, he also had to cancel all artists - also not an easy step for him.

Just like Sedlmair, his colleagues were also able to return most of the goods that had already been ordered. "We were already cautious with the orders because of the pandemic," explains Naumann, who wanted to sell waffles and hot drinks. When he sees the pictures of full football stadiums while the Christmas markets are canceled, he gets grumpy. With the exception of soccer, the government, like last year, is probably convinced that the “fun industry”, to which Naumann also counts gastronomy, is not needed. But millions could be earned with football, according to the Dachau restaurateur, who is still responsible for three schools in Dachau for catering and can thus mitigate his loss a little. Just how much longer?

Naumann expects a new lockdown practically every day. Alternatives such as drive-through Christmas markets are "nonsense" for the three. Naumann emphasizes: "We live from the lack of distance and from high customer frequency," says the man from Dachau, who does not believe in the 2G-plus rule at Christmas markets or other events with hospitality. That would be like a lockdown, so the family man. His conclusion: "As long as there are G-rules, we won't do anything more," emphasizes Naumann on behalf of his colleagues. All three of them don't give a damn about state aid, to put it bluntly, because they don't want any handouts from the state. No: “We want to be able to work and earn money,” demands Naumann.

Christian Hefele hopes to earn a bit of money, who, like last year, wants to sell his steak rolls privately on his own property.

When the time comes, he wants to advertise it on social networks.

Nevertheless, he has already canceled most of his order from the butchers.

Since last year he has also temporarily taken a part-time job with an acquaintance.

Not just to earn money, but simply to be able to work.

Something that the government of his industry and thus him again denied.
