The calls for help from the hospitals are getting louder.

Clinics and medical associations warn that the situation could worsen dramatically in days.

Munich - "I have the feeling that I am simply being burned by the system," writes a doctor.

And another: "I am angry and sad about the lack of solidarity in the unvaccinated population." The sentences come from a survey of 2,800 Bavarian clinicians.

The Marburger Bund presented the results on Friday (November 19) - and thus drew a dramatic picture of the situation in the intensive care units *.

The calls for help from the clinics are getting louder - and more desperate.

In just a few days it will no longer be possible to move patients within Bavaria, says a spokesman for the hospital society.

Many patients are already being transported well over 100 kilometers.

But the situation is also worsening around the Free State.

The clinics in Thuringia, Saxony and Austria * will already be eliminated, and in a few days the hospitals in Baden-Württemberg and Hesse will also be eliminated.

Corona in Bavaria: Marburger Bund and State Medical Association call "the situation more dramatic than ever"

“The situation is more dramatic than ever in the entire pandemic *” - this warning was formulated jointly by the Marburger Bund, the hospital society, the state medical association and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Bavaria. Not only sliding, but also absolutely necessary operations would meanwhile have to be postponed indefinitely. The pressure on doctors and intensive care staff is increasing day by day. "With more than 40,000 new Corona * infections per day, it is foreseeable that three to four new intensive care patients will be admitted per day with a delay," predicted Andreas Botzlar, Chairman of the Marburg Bund.

In the survey, 40 percent of the doctors indicated that they could not continue working for four weeks under the current conditions. “The doctors and nurses in the intensive care units are worn out,” he says. There is great concern that even more will fail. Because since the beginning of the year 4,000 intensive care beds have been eliminated nationwide - because the nursing staff for them are lacking.

This also has to do with the fact that the care key was changed from 1 to 2.5 to 1 to 2, explains a spokesman for the hospital society.

“That would be good for the patients if there were enough staff,” he says.

In fact, it meant that 20 percent of the beds could no longer be occupied.

Many intensive care workers were absent due to mental and physical overload or had asked to be transferred to normal wards.

And the remaining nurses and doctors would increasingly reach their limits, emphasizes Botzlar.

The level of frustration is very high - especially because mostly unvaccinated people end up in the intensive care units.

Corona: State chairman of the Marburger Bund wants vaccination "for the entire population"

The Marburger Bund, the Hospital Society and the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians are therefore calling for everyone to be vaccinated. Such an obligation must apply to medical staff, teachers and educators, * emphasized Botzlar. “And if you ask me, in the end for the entire population.” Appeals and declarations would not reach those who have not yet been vaccinated. "We have now reached a point where we can no longer avoid compulsory vaccination."

The Augsburg neurosurgeon Ina Konietzko fears that there will be more and more situations in the future, as she recently experienced during her night shift.

She got a call from a hospital in Biberbach.

"The colleagues there had been looking for an intensive care bed in another hospital for a woman with cerebral hemorrhage for an hour," she reports.

Vain.

Konietzko couldn't offer a bed either.

She doesn't know what has become of the woman.
