Half of left-wing voters want a rapprochement resulting in a single presidential candidacy between socialist Anne Hidalgo and environmentalist Yannick Jadot, according to an Ifop poll for the Journal du Dimanche.
Some 53% of left-wing voters questioned want this development, against 47% who are against, while the left approaches the 2022 deadline weaker and more fragmented than ever.

A rapprochement between the mayor of Paris PS and the MEP EELV, on the other hand, was rejected by 59% of all those polled, against 41% who would be in favor. The hypothesis of a single candidacy from the left bringing together the PS, EELV, La France insoumise (LFI) and the Communist Party (PCF) would have the favor of 70% of left-wing voters (30% would be against), but would share the 'wider group of people questioned (48% for, 52% against).
The left is approaching the 2022 deadline in an unprecedented state of weakness.
Neither the Insubordinate Jean-Luc Mélenchon, nor Yannick Jadot, nor Anne Hidalgo reached at this stage 10% of voting intentions in the majority of the polls - very far behind Emmanuel Macron, Marine Le Pen and the candidate ( e) from the right, which remains to be designated-, and the total of the votes from the left is less than 30%.

Voting intentions do not constitute a forecast of the outcome of the ballot.
They give an indication of the balance of power and dynamics on the day of the survey.
Survey conducted on November 18 and 19 online, with a sample of 1,510 people representative of the French population aged 18 and over.
Margin of error between 1.4 and 3.1 points.
