How the name of the All Blacks would have arisen from a transcription error

The origin of the nickname is often attributed to a shorthand typing error after a selection match in 1905. But the authenticity of this brilliant anecdote has been disputed.


It has become one of the most iconic trademarks in the world of sport. The name All Blacks, nickname of the XV of New Zealand, obviously decorates on the jerseys of the team, under the emblematic silver fern (symbol of awakening and energy), but is also available on a multitude of products derived from the brand Adidas all over the world, allowing the New Zealand Rugby Federation to cash in juicy revenues. An iconic name that has made oval lovers dream since the beginning of the 21st century, when the All Blacks, also called The Originals, made a name for themselves in the eyes of the general public thanks to a tour of Europe and North America. North which marked the history of this sport: 34 victories in 35 matches.

During these trips away from its island, the selection faced the great nations of the oval: the formidable Wales, Scotland, or France, but also local selections such as the provincial team.
