- Mayor Patrick Janik is not known for falling into superlatives too quickly. On Friday, however, he spoke of a building project of "great importance for the city" and an "excellent example of redensification in the interior". What made Janik so happy is the progress of the construction work for Dinardpark. Between Dinardstrasse, Possenhofener Strasse and Bahnhofstrasse, the project developer Ehret and Klein is building five individual residential buildings with a total of 22 two- to four-room apartments and a new kindergarten. The "play island", which used to be at home on the site and is currently outsourced to containers on Ludwigstrasse, will be withdrawn after completion.

Together with Michael Ehret, the managing partner of Ehret und Klein, project manager Stefanie Hecker, city architect Stephan Weinl and Michael Friedrich from the Starnberger See sewage association, Janik sank a time capsule in the symbolically prepared foundation stone on Friday. For Ehret it was much more than a purely symbolic act. "It is important for a construction site to have a few milestones," he said - especially since there is "a lot of passion" in Dinardpark.

The planning had been refined again and again, and the project also went public for a few laps until everything was finally in the towel.

Among other things, the building committee of the city council wrestled with verve about the access to the underground car park with 49 parking spaces, which is now on Bahnhofstrasse (entrance) and Dinardstrasse (exit).

City architect Weinl is extremely satisfied with the result.

He was glad that all difficulties could have been overcome.

“It's nice to see what's developing here,” said Weinl.

It is not just about a plot of land that is being built on, but about an entire district that is being created - with “great potential for living space”, open spaces and, of course, the kindergarten.

Everything is centrally located and can be reached in short distances.

The apartments are exclusively rented apartments, assured Michael Ehret, who not only praised the atmosphere for discussion with the city administration and city council, but also the neighborhood. "It is important to us that we are clear with the neighbors," he said. With the laying of the foundation stone, the building construction phase can begin. Project manager Stefanie Hecker expects the Dinardpark to be completed in the first quarter of 2023. By then there should also be initial public considerations as to how Ehret and Klein envision the development just 100 meters further south on the property, where the "Pizza Drive" has been for many years. and the bike shop Bike It were at home and the giant pink stairs have been in place for more than half a year.

"We are in discussion with the city and asked about needs and requirements," said Michael Ehret. He can imagine a new building there with small shops and perhaps even an extension of the neighboring Starnberger See Museum on the ground floor - and a public space of whatever design with restaurants and lounges on the floor above, including a view of the lake. “No passer-by in Starnberg can currently see the lake from this point,” he said, and also sees the project in connection with the lake connection. It is quite possible that the first results will be presented to the public in the first half of 2022.

Patrick Janik did not want to comment on content considerations on Friday.

However, this area is "highly prominent and highly sensitive," he emphasized.

Something special should definitely be created there.

After the experience at Dinardpark, Janik is confident: "We will find a good way."
