Stadium club offers public races and racquet races - mask compulsory applies

A public run has been taking place in the Heinz Schneider Ice Stadium again since the start of the season. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday runway speedsters can lace up their shoes.

A public run has been taking place in the Heinz Schneider Ice Stadium again since the start of the season.

Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday runabouts can lace up their shoes.

Geretsried - "In the beginning there weren't that many people," admits stadium boss Rico Lehwald in an interview with our newspaper.

“But the ice rink was there, and then we immediately offered the public run.” The chairman of the operating association does not believe that it was due to the sometimes still summer temperatures.

“At the beginning, people were still very unsure about Corona.” As reported, a mask requirement applies in the stadium.

For this, up to 1000 visitors are allowed in the ice rink.

Visitors can be seen joy

To the delight of sports-loving schoolchildren, there was a daily public run during the autumn holidays. According to Lehwald, this offer was well received. During the conversation with our newspaper, the stadium manager counted 60 amateur runners, many of them children. "Those are the number of visitors, so you are happy that ice sports have started again," says the operations manager. And the visitors can also be seen that they are delighted to be able to get on the ice again. The stadium opens its gates for young and old skaters three days a week: on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for an hour and a half.

350 to 400 paying guests in the stadium would be ideal during this time, says Lehwald with a view to the income side.

On the other hand, they refrained from an appointment in the evening.

The demand has become weaker and weaker.

"We had to take it out of the occupancy plan." Lehwald is proud of the public racket run that has been offered in Geretsried for around five years.

Parents and children alike could try their hand at clubs and pucks before venturing into the club.

This offer is better accepted from year to year.

In the meantime, the demand is so great that an upper limit has been introduced: a maximum of 60 runners are allowed on the ice, "otherwise it's no longer fun".

The corona rules at a glance

FFP2 masks have been mandatory in the entire ice rink since November 6th - according to the website, exceptions to this rule only apply to actual sporting activities (non-public run), for people with a medical certificate and for children under six years of age. Children from 12 to 16 years of age are allowed to stay in the stadium until December 31st with the 3G rule. 3G applies to children from six to twelve years of age during school time, as they are subject to regular tests there. The student ID card is valid as evidence of a test for children over ten years of age. Children up to their sixth birthday are not affected by the regulation. From the age of 17, the 2G rule applies to all visitors (except for employees of the operating club, the sports club and voluntary helpers).Spectators are only allowed to stay in the stadium in compliance with the requirements of the applicable hygiene concept.

The operating association of the ice rink is non-profit and does not aim to make a profit.

“The resources we have are sufficient,” says Lehwald.

“And we're happy that everyone can use the stadium.” The chairman of the operating association hopes “that we don't have to close it again because of Corona”.
