The Wesner Tor is closed for three weeks due to demolition work on the former Schmederer department store.

At the same time, the renovation of the intersection on the B 15 will continue until December 10th.

Dorfen

- Once again bad news for the traffic in the center of Dorfen: The conversion of the intersection on the B 15 through-town is not yet finished, as the next important traffic axis through the old town is already being closed.

The Wesner Gate will be closed from Monday.

The background to this is the conversion of the former Schmederer department store into a house of health.

The demolition of the annex on the Johannisplatz side will begin on Monday.

"We have been waiting for the building permit for over a year, it came 14 days ago," explains property developer Georg Scharl when asked.

The entrepreneur from Dorfen would have liked to have started much earlier, but the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments allowed six appointments to pass over the months before it finally issued a final statement on the project, complains Scharl.

As a result, the building permit was not available.

After this late start signal from the authorities, it would have made more sense for him as an entrepreneur to start the demolition in spring 2022, says Scharl.

But now he quickly had to organize companies and in some cases move to another construction site.

“The city has pushed,” Scharl explains the schedule in an interview with our newspaper.

Because at the same time a sewer rehabilitation is in progress in the adjacent Herzoggraben.

Part of the sewer pipe runs under the annex, which is now to give way.

"If the extension has been torn away, we can continue with the sewer work in this area," says Jürgen Dietrich, civil engineering department manager in the Dorfen town hall.

In view of the approaching winter, this will probably only be able to happen in spring.

But then the real stress test comes to the Dorfener traffic participants: demolition and new construction of the Isenbrücke in the course of the B 15 through town.

For this major construction site, the main artery in Dorfen has to be completely closed at times, not just on one side, as is currently the case with the renovation of the intersection with Rosenaustraße.

The bridge construction site and the closure of the Wesner Gate must not coincide - according to this logic, it makes more sense to continue building on the Haus der Gesundheit now and not after the snow in early 2002, says Scharl.

"Otherwise that would be even greater madness."

According to Scharl, the demolition of the extension will now take three weeks. During this time, the gate is locked - parallel to the obstacles on the B 15. The entire "House of Health" project will not be able to be completed in 2022, says the investor. After all, the following work takes place in the renovation of the building with the listed facade on the church gate square inside. A further closure of the gate will therefore no longer be necessary, says Scharl.

In the meantime, the reconstruction of the intersection on the B 15 with the construction of a pedestrian traffic light has been delayed by a week.

The work should be completed on December 10th - a week later than originally planned, confirms Thomas Jakob, press spokesman for the Freising State Building Authority, when asked.

The big bridge construction site will not begin until spring.

“Definitely not before March,” explains Jakob.
