The Theresia-Petsch-Haus was inaugurated in Bernried.

In addition to 24 apartments for the elderly and two care apartments, it also houses a day care center and a senior citizens' club.

Bernried

- After a relatively short construction period of 20 months for a property of this size, the “Theresia-Petsch-Haus” senior citizens' center in Bernried was inaugurated yesterday, Friday.

According to the foundation board member and managing director of Outpatient Nursing Tutzing, Armin Heil, the house on the Grundweiher can start operations on December 1st.

According to former mayor Josef Steigenberger, there were plans to build a retirement home as early as the 1990s.

However, these were not followed closely.

Only after the creation of the vision of the future in 2002 were the plans taken up again.

The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was on March 13, 2020. During the construction work there were problems because some materials could not be delivered on time due to the corona pandemic.

Nevertheless, the planned completion date could be kept.

Think about the older generation too

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Thomas von Mitschke-Collande, sees a fundamental social problem in the fact that the state and municipalities have to provide the facilities such as kindergartens and schools necessary for the younger generation, but not for the infrastructure that older people can use Need life. From his point of view, this should become a compulsory municipal task. "This is where politics are called upon," said the chairman.

According to site manager Robert Fäustle, the building is a solid concrete structure with full thermal insulation.

The house stands on a plot of land measuring 3500 square meters.

On the five levels there are 24 senior-friendly apartments with one to three rooms on the three upper floors.

Their sizes are between 49 and 85 square meters.

On the ground floor, 420 square meters are used for day care, 210 square meters for the senior citizens' club.

In the basement there is an underground car park for 60 vehicles in addition to technical function rooms and storage compartments for the residents.

60 square meters of solar thermal system on the roof

According to von Mitschke-Collande, the building's sustainability was important to the clients. On the roof there is a 60 square meter solar thermal system that provides heat for heating and hot water; the remaining heat requirement is covered by a gas condensing boiler. According to Fäustle, the cabling for retrofitting a photovoltaic system to generate electricity for self-consumption is already installed.

Twelve apartments belong to the Bernried community and twelve to the Theresia Petsch Foundation.

Both give their apartments to older citizens.

The exact construction cost was not mentioned, but it should be in the upper seven-digit range.

Part of the money comes from an earmarked donation from Theresia Petsch, who died childless at the age of almost 100.

At the end of the inauguration ceremony, the Catholic pastor Peter Brummer, who as a pastor also looks after the day care, and his Protestant colleague Beate Frankenberger said a prayer of thanks and blessing.
