Tehran and Baku-Sana
An earthquake measuring 5 on the Richter scale hit areas near the Caspian Sea, northwest of the city of Azerbaijan, north of Iran, without reports of casualties or material losses.
In a statement carried by the Iranian news agency IRNA, the Seismological Center of Tehran University said that the tremor occurred 388 km from the city of Ardabil and 477 km from the city of Tabriz, at a depth of 10 km.
Azerbaijan was also hit by an earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale.
The Russian agency, Sputnik, reported that the epicenter of the tremor was located at a depth of 10 km, 16 km northeast of the Shamakhi region in Azerbaijan.
