Wissam Kerbage has transformed discarded and disposable paper into a tool on which to build her micro-project that she founded in the city of As-Suwayda through the manufacture of paper models that are suitable as antiques and gifts.
Kerbaj began working in this field five years ago as a hobby that she practices in her home, so the idea arose for her by starting her small project from the things available to her until she gradually developed her work by introducing new ideas and creating distinctive designs that she participated in the last two sessions of the Damascus International Fair and as a result obtained a professional certificate for what Her works were well received by visitors, according to her interview with SANA reporter.
Most of the paper artifacts that Kerbage designs are related to ideas about agricultural work, fishing, cooperation in life, and dealing with nature and the environment. Through her project, she wanted to highlight how to employ simple ideas in feasible work, spread the culture of handicrafts and encourage its acquisition due to its accuracy and beauty, as she put it.
Kerbage, a graduate of the Institute of Women's Arts, who previously worked in the field of teaching, also indicated that she added and developed to her project by manufacturing various paintings using the technique of pressing copper, after following a course in this field, expressing her ambition to participate in foreign exhibitions.
Kerbage called on those concerned to support female workers in the field of manual labor and help them overcome the difficulties of marketing and promoting their work.
