The Israeli Theater Creators Forum is currently leading a campaign calling for 50/50 - a balanced and equal combination of men and women in different positions in the field, and now comes the good news: At the Acre Theater Festival another new artistic director was announced: actress and director Dalia Shimko.
The committee for locating an artistic director for the festival has chosen Shimko, who will replace Shalom Shmuelov, who has completed a four-year term.
Along with acting and directing, Shimko has extensive experience in management, having founded and served as the artistic director of the "Aspemia Ensemble" for 17 years.
In her role, she founded the ensemble, which leads the original Israeli work in fringe throughout the country.

Shimko was also responsible for bringing the play "Revolutionaries" to a festival in Bucharest, which as a result is currently being translated into Georgian, as part of an anthology of selected Israeli plays.
Shimko recently performed at the Israel Festival in the context of spiritual ties and has performed at the Haifa Theater, the Beit Lesin Theater, Habima and even the Acre Festival.
