Seventy-five migrants died when their boat sank in the Mediterranean waters north of Libya while trying to reach Italy.
The Associated Press quoted the International Organization for Migration of the United Nations as saying in a statement that the accident occurred when a boat carrying a number of migrants sank while heading to Europe via Libya, killing 75 migrants, while 15 others were rescued, who were transferred to Zuwara port in northwest Libya.
Thousands of migrants from the countries of the Middle East and North Africa have drowned in the waters of the Mediterranean during the past years while trying to reach European countries to escape the crimes of terrorist organizations in their countries and Western interference in the affairs of some countries in the region.
