Weather forecasts continue to predict the arrival of a storm that will bring rainfall, snow and strong winds to the east of the country starting this Sunday and during Thanksgiving week.

Areas of the Midwest and northern Great Lakes will experience snowfall and gusts of wind, while rain and thunderstorms will extend from the interior of the Northeast to the Southeast.

They could be forced to delay or cancel flights due to adverse weather.

This front will affect the East Coast on Monday with rain and wind through the corridor of the interstate highway I-95.

The most important showers will possibly be registered in the first half of the day, while in the second half strong winds will dominate.

Atlanta, Washington DC, New York, Boston, Cleveland, Detroit and Buffalo could all experience delays on Monday.

Rainfall will move away from the Atlantic coast on Tuesday, but lake-effect snow (it appears when cold air masses pass over lakes) and strong winds will continue to pick up.

The icy winds, combined with the coldest air of the season, will bring temperatures down below average.

Highs on Tuesday are expected to be in the low 30s (Fahrenheit) in the Midwest and New England, and highs in the 40s in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Even Atlanta will struggle to reach 50 degrees high.

On average, 1 to 2 inches of rain will fall, although at certain points more can accumulate.

The storm will move quickly, so there is no widespread risk of flash flooding at this time.

The greatest accumulation of snow will occur in typical areas of the snow belt around the Great Lakes, where a foot (30 cm) or more could fall.

Cities like Cleveland, Buffalo, Syracuse, New York, and Pittsburgh could also have light to moderate layers.

Although this storm is not expected to break records or have a particularly high impact, its arrival coincides with the millions of trips planned for Thanksgiving, and could generate delays at the main airports in the east of the country.

In parallel, the

storm forecast for the Pacific Northwest early next week has decreased in intensity.

By Thanksgiving, most of the East Coast will experience a cold, rainless day, albeit with some strong winds.

The southern and southeastern plains will not be so lucky, with showers and storms that could extend to the Gulf Coast.

The southwest of the country will also experience a dry Thursday, with mild temperatures and mostly sunny skies, while the Pacific Northwest could be affected by a front that leaves precipitation and snow.
