Paris-Sana

The French coast guard announced that about 250 migrants were rescued in the Badeau-Calais Strait in northern France while they were trying to cross the English Channel.

"Rescue operations were carried out yesterday after the migrants found difficulties crossing the English Channel, where they were later taken to the ports of Boulogne-sur-Mer, Dunkirk and Calais," the French newspaper Le Figaro quoted the coastguard as saying in a statement.

The English Channel is witnessing continuous attempts by migrants to cross from France to Britain, which resulted in the drowning of many of them, as is the case in other regions such as the Mediterranean, which United Nations statistics indicated that more than five thousand people were killed last year while trying to cross it to reach Europe.
