Born to freedom? The Whole World Following Feng Shui | Israel today

2021-11-21T22:03:57.522Z

Earlier this month, tennis player Feng Shui complained that she had been raped by a senior Chinese government official, and has since disappeared - until yesterday.

On November 2, Chinese tennis player Feng Shui posted a post on the social network WEIBO accusing Zhang Gauli, a former senior Chinese official, of sexual harassment.

Feng described there, in detail, how Zhang forced her to have sex with him even though she vehemently refused.

The post was deleted and disappeared in less than 20 minutes, as was Feng Shui, until yesterday, when the World Olympic Committee released a statement and photo in which it talks with Chairman Thomas Bach in a video call. "And asked for her privacy.

At first, after the accusing post, Feng did not return to writing on the social network, nor was she seen in public.

In recent days, videos and photos of her have been published by Chinese journalists who have tried to calm the spirits, but the worried world has not been convinced.

"While it's a positive sign to see a picture of her," responded women's round chairman Steve Simon, "it's still unclear if she's free and making decisions on her own.

The video is not enough. "

Feng Shui is 35. She was ranked 14th in the world in singles and first place in doubles.

She has won two Grand Slam titles in doubles, reached the singles semi-finals and won dozens of titles over the years.

The last tournament she participated in was in Qatar in February 2020, then she was forced to stop because of the corona plague.

According to the sensational 1,500-word post, the incident with Zhang took place in 2018, when he invited her to his house to play tennis, where he raped her while his wife was guarding the door from the outside.

Earlier this month, about three years later, the tennis player decided to go to the courage zone and share her past.

"Even if it's like hitting an egg on a rock, I must tell the truth about you," she wrote in the detailed post.

But WEIBO, a social network censored by the administration, mimicked the post as mentioned within minutes and prevented any search option that could lead to it.

Feng Shui just wanted to tell the truth, and her country tried to make her disappear.

"Everyone's problem!"

The size of the incident - a senior tennis player complaining about a government official - made it impossible to sweep the story below the surface, and very quickly it floated and spread all over the world.

As more details about the incident became clear, the concern for Feng's health increased.

The women's round, the WTA, has made every effort to reach it in recent days, but any such attempt has come to a dead end.

"We tried through every possible network and app - and nothing works," Simon told Time in an interview, and as mentioned, he did not calm down even after the Chinese's conversation with Bach.

At the same time, Chinese media outlets reportedly published all sorts of news items aimed at lowering the level of stress, but these actually increased the fear that something bad had happened to those who dared to do the right thing and complain about sexual harassment.

One of the reports published in China stated that Feng Shui had dropped her accusations on the grounds that they were untrue and that she was "resting at home and everything was fine."

Over the weekend another journalist tweeted a photo of herself in which she allegedly greeted "Happy Weekend," but even the credibility of that photo could not be confirmed.

Uncertainty about Feng's condition has led actors and actresses in the round to make their voices heard regarding the case.

"I am broken and shocked to hear the news about my girlfriend," Serena Williams wrote on Twitter, adding, "We must investigate this, and we must not remain silent."

Roger Federer said: "I really hope she's fine, we're all united around her," while Frenchman Nicolas Maho concluded: "Her disappearance is not a problem of the women's round, it's a problem of everyone!".

And really, the story of the Chinese tennis player made waves and even reached the White House.

Asked about the story, press officer Yin Pasaki said: "We are very concerned about the reports, and demand tangible proof that she is OK. Women who complain about sexual harassment should be supported."

US President Joe Biden is determined to take a step forward and boycott the Beijing Winter Games in 2022 - a call that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is also a partner in - if the affair is not resolved.

Meanwhile, in the round the women stressed that they would fight for feng shui, no matter what the consequences.

Every year more than ten women's tournaments are held in China including the end-of-year tournament, and this collaboration may end as long as Feng is insecure.

"We will sever economic ties with China," Simon declared anxiously, and now it remains to be seen what the next step will be, and especially whether Feng Shui is indeed healthy, complete and free?
