British research, Brexit hostage

2021-11-21T16:58:12.817Z

DECRYPTION - The European Union is dragging out the integration of the United Kingdom into its Horizon Europe program.

Thousands of researchers, academics, engineers and founders of innovative British start-ups are in total vagueness.

Since the start of the year, they should be part of the European Union's research and innovation support program, Horizon Europe, with a budget of 95.5 billion euros over seven years.

However, because of the tensions between London and Brussels on Brexit, the formalization of the association is postponed until Greek calendars.

Meanwhile, British research laboratories associated in consortia with European counterparts are not funded.

Dozens of programs in health, climate change, the humanities, face budget holes.

And some SMEs find themselves on the verge of bankruptcy.
