The corona situation in Germany is sounding the alarm.

Politicians react to the critical situation with previously excluded measures - and break their promises.

Munich - The fourth wave of the corona virus * is raging through Germany.

The curves for incidence and the number of cases and deaths continue to point clearly upwards.

The seven-day incidence rose again to a high of 362.2.

Within one day, 63,924 new corona infections were reported to the RKI.

In addition, 248 deaths have been recorded in the past 24 hours.

Politicians are taking new measures due to the dangerous situation.

At the same time, however, a real 180-degree turn occurs with these steps and previously made promises are now discarded.

Corona crisis: fourth wave hits Germany - Merkel receives the announcement that vaccinations are mandatory

The more serious the pandemic situation became, the more heated the debate about a general vaccination requirement became - not only in Germany, but worldwide. Of course, some European countries also took steps in this direction. As early as September France introduced compulsory vaccinations for certain professional groups such as hospital and nursing workers, fire fighters and civil defense workers. Following France's example, Greece followed for care workers. Now Austria has also announced that it is mandatory to be vaccinated. The corona situation there had previously worsened considerably.

The topic was also hotly debated in Germany.

A clear statement about this came from the outgoing Chancellor Angela Merkel * on July 13th.

At the Robert Koch Institute she affirmed that the federal government would not follow France's example.

"There will be no compulsory vaccination," said the Chancellor at the time, because that would not generate trust.

This announcement was now received only months later.

In view of the current escalating situation, Merkel and the state leaders decided at the federal-state summit that vaccination should be compulsory for certain professional groups, including nursing professions.

CSU boss Markus Söder also supports mandatory vaccination.

Corona promise: Söder is now talking about a lockdown in Bavaria

Incidentally, the Bavarian Prime Minister Söder * is one of the politicians who had to cash in on corona promises made previously.

At the end of August, Söder ruled out a new lockdown.

The reason for this is the vaccination rate.

60 percent of the people are twice vaccinated, which is why, according to Söder, there was no reason for a new curfew: "So there will definitely be no lockdowns or restrictions like we had."

In a press conference on Friday

(November 19)

, the CSU boss mentioned a lockdown after all.

You have to act based on the situation, said Söder and sharpened significantly.

This would also include contact restrictions for unvaccinated people.

The Bavarian Prime Minister described this as a “de facto lockdown” for unvaccinated people.

Corona emergency: Spahn admits errors - "Should have pointed out earlier"

On November 25, the epidemic of national proportions will come to an end.

The traffic light parties have presented a new toolkit to combat the pandemic and pushed the draft through the Bundestag.

Not only did MPs from the traffic light parties support the end of the epidemic situation.

Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn from the CDU also advocated an end to the emergency at the beginning of October.

“The state of emergency, established by the Bundestag, can, in my opinion, be ended.” However, like Merkel and Söder, he was now moving in a different direction.

On Friday

(November 19) he

spoke with RKI boss Lothar Wieler about the current corona situation.

In the press conference he suddenly admitted that the danger of the devastating fourth corona wave should have been "pointed out earlier" and thus admitted a mistake.
