Rottach-Egern - If you cycle around the Tegernsee, you have to switch to the B307 at the Seeforum.
That should change now.
The municipalities around the Tegernsee want to become more bicycle-friendly.
Rottach-Egern is now planning a major intervention at the Seeforum in order to come a little closer to this goal.
It's about the section between Dammweg and Max-Josef-Weg.
In this area, cyclists who want to take a lap around the Tegernsee have to use part of the B307 federal road.
Basically, the engineering office Lorenz Strohschneider received the order to plan a route.
Create a provisional cycle path
At the initiative of municipal council member Stefan Niedermeier, an on-site meeting with official technician Stefan Staudinger took place at the end of September, explained Mayor Christian Köck at the beginning.
It is therefore now proposed to create a provisional cycle path in the spring before major planning and renovation costs arise.
Among other things, the welcome board near the bridge over the Rottach is to be removed so that it can be renovated and then a new location can be found.
In addition, some lanterns and several of the stone blocks in front of the Seeforum would have to be moved and the hedge and some lawn or gravel areas including the border would have to disappear.
Furthermore, the bus stop will be moved by about one meter, explained managing director Gerhard Hofmann.
Opinions differed in the committee.
Thomas Tomaschek (Greens) basically agreed, but regretted the disappearance of the green in front of the Seeforum.
Group colleague Alexander von Schoeler also spoke out in favor of unraveling this neuralgic point for cyclists.
Critical voice in the local council
While the majority of the council members were sympathetic to the plans, Josef Kaiser (non-party) called it "madness that you still have to make a cycle path in front of the Seeforum".
In view of the hustle and bustle around the Seeforum, you should be able to expect that cyclists in this area will show consideration for pedestrians, get off and push their bikes for a while.
The rest of the council saw it differently.
With Josef Kaiser voting against, a majority of them voted in favor of the renovation plans.
