Tens of thousands of people demonstrated in the Belgian capital, Brussels, today, to protest against the return of the strict closure imposed by the government to limit the spread of the Corona virus.
The Associated Press reported that about 35,000 people demonstrated against the government's strict decisions banning the entry of unvaccinated people to restaurants and bars, and later turned violent.
Hundreds of policemen threw bottles, smashed cars and set garbage containers on fire, and police responded by firing tear gas and using water cannons in an attempt to disperse them.
Police spokeswoman Elsie Vande Keri said: "We have injuries, but we can't say how many yet," and it was not clear how many people were being held.
And Belgium recorded a noticeable increase in the number of corona infections, reaching 21,502 injuries and 42 deaths yesterday.
