The documentary exhibition, which was hosted by the Exhibition Hall at the Arab Cultural Center in the city of Hasaka, included eighty-five pictures documenting the living patterns of the people in the Syrian Jazeera at the beginning of the last century.

The exhibition, which was organized by the Safsaf Al-Khabour Cultural Association in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture and the branch of the Arab Writers Union, shed light on the ways of life of the people of the island in agriculture and traditional dress for the various social components, Bedouin life, nomadism, some places and archaeological and geographical sites and types.

The researcher Khaled Al-Atallah, participating in the exhibition, pointed out that his participation consists in presenting a number of different pictures of living patterns from the archive of the German researcher and orientalist Copenheim, which contains more than 13,000 pictures depicting various aspects of life during the past century, with the aim of informing the public about the way our ancestors lived on our good land.

Among the participants, Nizar Al-Hussein explained that the importance of the exhibition comes from being the most comprehensive and oldest documentation of the lifestyles of the people of the Syrian island, which shows the audience how our ancestors used to live, what they used to wear and their livelihoods on which they depended, in addition to presenting pictures of prominent places in the governorate, such as archaeological sites and some human gatherings and water wheels. The attendees expressed their admiration for the images contained in the exhibition that embodied a broad perception of the way the ancestors lived in the Jazira region, which formed a cultural heritage for the period preceding the emergence of major cities in this region at the beginning of the last century.
