The time has finally come in 2022: The accessible depot with exhibits that cannot be accommodated in the Geretsried city museum should finally open its doors.
Geretsried - The long-awaited opening of the walk-in depot on Kirchplatz by the Friends of Geretsried Local History Museum is due to take place next year.
The head of the cultural office, Anita Zwicknagl, promised him that, the association chairman Helmut Hahn recently announced at the annual meeting in the council chambers.
Actually, the warehouse with exhibits that cannot be found in the museum should be made accessible to the public as early as 2020 in the Geretsried anniversary year.
An exhibition of original Egerland costumes was planned.
The development association had bought mannequins for this purpose.
But the pandemic thwarted the club's plans.
According to Helmut Hahn, the costumes could already be seen in an exhibition in Marktredwitz.
Based on this model, they could be shown in Geretsried in 2022.
For the museum or the depot, the association was able to acquire an old lead setting shop and old Bohemian glass together with the city last year.
Two projects are waiting to be implemented
Two other projects have also been waiting to be implemented for a long time.
The association members suggested that the city publish a flyer for the museum in German, English and French.
They would also create deposits in Czech, Hungarian and Romanian, the languages spoken in the displaced persons' countries.
In addition, an original barrack, as it served as an apartment for the first displaced people on the Böhmwiese from 1945, is to be rebuilt at a suitable location as a historical showpiece.
For fire protection reasons, however, it will probably not be accessible.
Stories from contemporary witnesses in dialect
The implementation of these goals should not fail because of the money.
According to information from treasurer Dr.
Sabine Gus-Mayer has around 95,000 euros in the account.
"We are not a savings association, so we should put part of the sum into projects," said Dr.
Wolfgang Pintgen.
One idea is a video with contemporary witnesses - there are no longer many - who tell stories in dialect about their old home and their arrival in Geretsried.
Gerhard Aumüller from the historical Geretsried working group, who has already made the anniversary film for the city, would shoot the video.
He emphasized that the interview project by BR author Dr.
Sybille Krafft, in cooperation with the city, does not want to compete.

Helmut Hahn also wants to spend the money saved wisely.
The association is ready to spend 20,000 euros on carpentry work on the old barracks.
In addition, they want to donate an amount for the renovation of the Nikolauskapelle.

Association has 97 members
The new elections did not result in any changes.
Helmut Hahn remains chairman of the 97-member association.
His deputy is Martin Bruckner, the cashier is Dr.
Sabine Gus-Mayer, secretary Johanna Hermann.
The extended board includes Johann Depner, Dr.
Wolfgang Pintgen, Karl Raminger, Stefan Rieder, Doris Schmid, Uwe Thamm, Ursula Meyndt, Gernot Schnabl and Georg Hodolitsch.
