Green in the eyes: Dozens of cities in an impressive tribute in honor of IDF wounded | Israel Today

Cities and local councils across the country have urged public buildings to express support for the wounded in Israeli systems and hostilities • Gadi Yarkoni, who was wounded himself, said "" These are heroes who bear the heavy cost of the endless struggle to ensure state security.


Across the country, today (Sunday) marked the Day of Recognition for IDF Wounded and Hostile Operations. The country has central green buildings - which symbolize IDF uniforms. The goal - to salute, honor and embrace the wounded of the Israeli systems and hostilities.

Among the councils taking part in the Green Enlightenment is the Eshkol Regional Council that illuminated the Resilience Therapy Garden.

The head of the Eshkol Regional Council, Gadi Yarkoni, is the victim of hostilities, at Tzuk Eitan Gadi was the farm coordinator at Kibbutz Nirim and while repairing a generator damaged by gunfire towards the envelope, shrapnel began firing from the Gaza Strip into the kibbutz, Gadi was fatally wounded and lost both legs.

"The wounded in the IDF and the hostilities are heroes who bear the heavy burden of the endless struggle to ensure national security," Yarkoni noted.

"As a council that accompanies victims of hostilities and knows how difficult and complex daily coping is, we see a moral obligation to pause the daily race for a moment and thank them for their contribution to the country. "Wherever I go. But while my disability is physical and visible, there are many wounded whose disability is transparent. It is our job throughout the year to be at their disposal in their struggle and on this day to stop, shine a spotlight on them and salute them."
