Stefanie Schwarz from Reichersbeuern is one of the most famous harpists in the region.

On her new CD she also presents several original compositions.

Reichersbeuern

- There are new harp sounds from the Oberland: The latest CD from Stephanie Schwarz, “La Source”, French “the source”, has been available since the end of October.

Her third album has a personal note, because the virtuoso says: "It's about pieces and melodies that never let me go." Four of her own compositions can be found among the 16 titles.

They are called “friends”, “air”, “light” and “summer”.

Nature is always her source of inspiration, says Schwarz.

With the harp she can musically reproduce the diverse moods.

Stefanie Schwarz's harp CD “La Source” has a dreamy character

After an alpine and a classic CD, the woman from Reichersbeurer gives her personal preferences space. The cover text speaks of the “dreamy character” of the pieces, which tell of new beginnings, beauty and transience. The title “La Source” can be found twice among the tracks, by Hasselmans and Zabel, both harp virtuosos of the 19th century.

The typical pearly finish of the arpeggios, the main characteristic of the sound, is implemented by the musician with ease and great grace, thus paying homage to the outstanding composer.

A clear, babbling water can hardly be better represented musically.

But already the second piece, composed by the harpist herself, leads into the emotional world.

“Friends” are thanks to their personal companions, she reveals.

The melodies and sounds of “La Source” clearly have a calming character, but still bring out the emotions of the audience.

“With my playing technique, I want to create a lot of moods with the pressure of my finger on the strings, and thus reach my audience,” says Stephanie Schwarz.

Stefanie Schwarz shows the whole spectrum of the harp

This is by no means done with overloaded drama, on the contrary, with a calm and determined musical attitude. “A lot is possible in dreamy pieces,” she says. The musician spreads the whole spectrum of her instrument: dancing happily in "Hornpipe", an old dance, confidently comforting in "River flows in you" by Yiruma or individually characterizing in "Mon ami" by Kim Robertson.

The album, produced by her brother Leonhard Schwarz, was created before the months of fear.

The virtuoso did not suffer from a lack of performance during the lockdowns, but from a torn tendon of the distal phalanx of the middle finger, which she could no longer stretch straight ahead.

A splint immobilized her entire finger for months.

That made the real problems.

"Some doctors told me that the finger would not heal again, others encouraged me," says Schwarz, and her worries and sadness can still be heard.

Stefanie Schwarz's new CD followed a long recovery process

Rehabilitation exercises for the hand were not enough.

Schwarz confided in a Japanese friend who found her an excellent therapist for the Far Eastern Reiki method.

This activation of the body's self-healing powers brought back complete mobility of the finger and Stephanie Schwarz plays the harp as before.

After months of arduous recovery, the harp teacher can now look forward to her new album and new concert dates.

The presentation of the new CD will not take place until May 2022.

If you want to experience the musician earlier, you have the opportunity in Advent in the Reichersbeurer Engelamt, but already at half past six in the morning.
