Italian authorities on the island of Vulcano ordered 150 people to evacuate the island after sulfur gases rose from the volcano in the area.

According to the British Guardian newspaper, the mayor of Lipari, Marco Giorjani, ordered the evacuation of about 150 people in the island's port area and banned tourists from entering for a month due to the increase in volcanic activity and gases spread in the area.

Last October, the Italian Civil Protection Agency issued an alert to the small island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea, about 25 kilometers north of Sicily, after a series of important changes in volcanic parameters.

The last eruption of a volcano on the island was more than 130 years ago and lasted from August 2, 1888 to March 22, 1890.

The island contains many volcanic centers and one of the four active volcanoes in Italy.
