Mountain accommodations are also open a week before the first Advent - at least the Brunnsteinhütte.

Because of the favorable weather forecast, the hosts in Gallenberger allowed themselves a busy weekend.

Mittenwald

- Already at 7 a.m., the landlords Barbara and Hans-Peter Gallenberger climb up to the Mittenwald Brunnsteinhütte (1560 meters above sea level) with their three-year-old stick-haired shepherd dog Letti.

Which wouldn't be surprising if it weren't for November 20th on the calendar page.

Next Sunday is the first Advent, then the Christmas season begins.

Nevertheless, the Gallenbergers decided to open up the Alpine Club accommodation again at short notice for this weekend.

After all, the weather frogs predict the sun will be full.

As soon as the Gallenbergers have reached the Brunnsteinhütte, where they have completed the 40th mountain summer in a row this year (we reported), they start preparing in the kitchen.

The menu of the day is spinach dumplings with salad, sauerkraut or in broth.

For the potato salad, the cooked potatoes are cut up by Barbara Gallenberger with a butter cutter.

At the same time, the mixer for the fresh, home-made baked goods is running.

This time cheese sprinkles, chocolate nuts and apple cakes are on the menu.

The scent flows through the hut and out to the dispensing window.

“Our hungry guests want Kaiserschmarrn, spinach dumplings, Kaspatzen and ham noodles the most,” the hut warden chats from the sewing box.

And coffee and cake always go, you can see.

It's quiet for the first few hours.

As soon as the sun has fully reached the hut, the guests come.

Many from Mittenwald, but also from the wider district and beyond.

Everyone enjoys the beautiful, sunny late autumn day, while those at home sit in the cold fog.

The well-known mountain enthusiast Liesl Seitner from Mittenwald, for example, climbed up to the hut directly from her home in Schwarzenfeld.

"I travel a lot and have been up here eight times this summer - alone or with a girlfriend." Why is she always drawn to the top?

“Well, there is good food and the landlords are nice and friendly.

You just feel at home. "

Regular guest Charly Mader, a native of Mittenwald who lives in Wallgau, without whom the Gallenbergers cannot imagine the weekend, has already visited the Brunnsteinhütte 30 times this year.

"You come to advice and eat and enjoy the sun and the view." That and the cool wheat beer are enough to be happy in the mountains.

The seven-month-old Linus and his parents Johannes Auberger and Carmen Hecht from Ohlstadt also climbed the Brunnstein.

Grandpa Wolfgang Auberger from Niederhinkofen in the Regensburg region proudly reports: "I carried my grandson up." The Upper Palatinate is familiar with the Brunnsteinhütte from the past.

"It's just beautiful here."

What is surprising about this November weekend: The feared rush of local people from the greater Munich area did not materialize this time.
