More than 600 mayors, including the former Prime Minister Édouard Philippe, launched this Saturday an appeal to support the re-election of Emmanuel Macron to the presidency of the Republic, welcoming "a five-year term favorable to the territories and the municipalities", in a column published in the JDD.

"To meet the immense challenges which are those of the Nation - reindustrialisation, further opening up of our municipalities, construction of housing, preservation of our landscapes and success of the ecological transition - we need continuity and stability", write the authors. 611 signatories, among whom, in addition to the former Prime Minister now mayor of Le Havre, Christian Estrosi (Nice), Hubert Falco (Toulon), Christophe Béchu (Angers), Caroline Cayeux (Beauvais), or Olivier Klein (Clichy-sous-Bois) , Seine-Saint-Denis).

"For us, local elected officials from France, Corsica and the Overseas Territories, coming from all political stripes and often having no label, the account is there", continue the authors of support for the President of the Republic which, according to them, “does not pursue any partisan interest” but “is of general interest”.

“First act” of pre-campaign

"We simply want to continue the relationship of trust that in five years, we have been able to forge with the State", add these elected officials, including David Valence (Saint-Dié-des-Vosges), Alain Chrétien (Vesoul), Karl Olive (Poissy), Jean-Charles Orsucci (Bonifacio), Sonia Lagarde (Nouméa) or Sandra Trochimara (Cayenne).
