According to a report by the Knesset Research and Information Center, more than 5,500 military graduates have been diagnosed with post-traumatic disability over the years. • MK Tor-Paz, who initiated the preparation of the report:

As of August 2020, the total number of IDF disabled people recognized as PTSD victims was 5,500. Only 336 of them had less than 20% disability, and 5,214 had 20% or more disability. That is, about 95% are Permanently disabled.

The difficult data come from a report by the Knesset Research and Information Center, prepared at the request of MK Moshe (Kinley) Tor-Paz of the Yesh Atid party.

MK Moshe (Kinley) Tor-Paz Mish Atid,

According to the document, out of those recognized as post-traumatic, among 2,733 the cause of post-trauma is known.

Of these, 1,714 were recognized for injury from combat activity (data do not differentiate between combatants and combat supporters), and 1,059 were recognized for injury in road accidents.

The data also show that from the beginning of 2017 to July 2020, 2,128 applications for post-trauma recognition were submitted, and that in those years, 1,334 people were recognized as post-traumatic stress disorder.

The data for the approval of the applications, it should be noted, refer to the year of granting the approval and not to the year of submission of the application.

"According to the report, more than 5,500 military graduates have been diagnosed with post-traumatic disability over the years," said MK Moshe Tor-Paz.

"This means that for 5,500 people, life has been stopped. The bill I submitted, 'Preventive care for combat service graduates,' can prevent some of these people from becoming permanently disabled."
