Revolt against Spahn's Biontech plan - district administrator writes angry mail to Berlin - positive vaccination day balance

On the weekend there was not only a special vaccination day in the district office, district administrator Stefan Frey also wrote an angry mail to Berlin.

On the weekend there was not only a special vaccination day in the district office, district administrator Stefan Frey also wrote an angry mail to Berlin.

District - But then his hat string burst mightily.

District Administrator Stefan Frey responded to the announcement to limit the delivery of the corona vaccine from Biontech with an armored email to the Federal Ministry of Health in Berlin.

"Do you actually know that you are doing us (...) a disservice and destroying any motivation of our medical profession to first vaccinate and re-vaccinate?" Frey writes to State Secretary Dr.

Thomas Steffen.

And further: “We, on site in practice, have seen it for nine months what it means to manage shortages and work to the limit.

Hasn't the federal government still got any smarter about it? "

659 people on special vaccination day

What pissed Frey on Saturday: The authorities of the Managing Minister Jens Spahn announced that they would limit the maximum order quantity of the Biontech vaccine to 30 doses per doctor's practice and week. Vaccination centers and mobile vaccination teams are to receive 1020 doses. Everything that goes beyond that is supposed to be handled through the vaccine from Moderna.

Frey no longer understands the world. In the middle of the fourth wave, doctors' surgeries and vaccination centers would start up “the maximum vaccination engine”, but would now have “clubs thrown between their legs”. Most people wanted the vaccine from Biontech - "We won't slow it down, referring to reduced order quantities". Frey delivers the example of a family doctor with her own practice who wrote to him in Berlin. You have vaccinated many people with Biontech who should not get Moderna now. In addition, Moderna should not be inoculated to people under 30 years of age. Should she now get less Biontech vaccine, "that would probably really mean that we vaccinate less or not more," said the doctor.

As much as Frey is annoyed about the Berlin plans, he is just as happy about the course of the special vaccination day on Saturday in the district office.

"I'm really happy," he said.

"659 people took advantage of our vaccination offer." These included 190 first vaccinations, 44 second vaccinations and 425 so-called booster vaccinations.

In 95 percent of the cases the vaccine was inoculated by Biontech, in the other five percent that of Moderna.

The number 659 also includes 55 young people between the ages of twelve and 17.

"I would like to thank our helpers from BRK, THW and the District Office very warmly," emphasized Frey.

"Great performance!

This is the only way to get out of the pandemic. "

BRK boss: marathon instead of 100-meter run

"The 100-meter run has become a marathon" - this is how BRK district manager Jan Lang described the current vaccination situation on Saturday. Fortunately, the district is still not running out of breath, as the well-organized campaign showed: The 659 vaccine doses were gone in six hours, there were short waiting times and satisfied vaccinated people. The way to the vaccination was like a tour of the district administration. The organizers had spread the various stations across the entire building. So there were beer benches and tables outside in the forecourt to fill out the anamnesis sheet, then there were two different queues for unvaccinated and already vaccinated people inside for registration, across the courtyard to the counseling sessions and finally to the vaccination.

"This way we can straighten out what is happening," said Frey. He himself was there and was available to answer questions, something that 19-year-old Tamara Becker, for example, found very positive. She and her family got the first vaccination. She waited an hour. "That went very quickly despite the large crowd," said Becker. According to Philipp Gasser from THW, 90 people were queuing two hours before the start at 10 a.m. Around noon the queue broke up thanks to hard-working helpers and good organization.

Jan Lang, who was in charge of the registration himself, was also satisfied: “There were no jostlers today.

From time to time people are impatient or aggressive with such vaccination campaigns, but that is mostly due to their concerns or fear. ”You need good nerves for this work.

"The longer the vaccination campaign lasts, the more resource-saving we have to work," says Lang.

"The marathon is still going on."

The booster vaccination was only available for people over 70 on Saturday.

"Unfortunately, we had to meet this restriction," says Stefan Frey.

"We are overrun in the vaccination centers or during vaccination campaigns, and without such restrictions it derails us." He is happy about everyone who decides to vaccinate and is therefore planning even more vaccination options for everyone.

"It is my job for the next week to find opportunities together with the BRK."

District administrator wants to build test center

Only at the weekend did he get permission from the government of Upper Bavaria to inoculate more than the 2720 vaccine doses previously allowed per week.

“Up until now there was this upper limit for the vaccination centers.

Now that we are also allowed to vaccinate without a cap, we have to start up again. ”The district is not lacking in space, currently the challenge is to find enough staff.

You also have to keep an eye on logistics.

The ordered vaccine is currently arriving after a delivery time of two weeks.

Frey hopes that the wholesaler can cut this time in half soon.

In addition to starting up the vaccination centers, Frey also takes care of testing.

"It's my turn to set up a test center in Starnberg," said the district administrator.

“Even if we had enough space for vaccination centers, it is difficult for a test center.” Anyone who knows a space is welcome to contact the district office.

The last bit was set at 6.30 p.m.

Incidence rises above 500 for the first time

The seven-day incidence rose to over 500 for the first time ever on Sunday in the county.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave it 507.3.

How many new infections there have been is unclear, as the district office no longer publishes its own figures on weekends.

According to the RKI, at least 60 cases had been added by Sunday morning.
