Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned NATO countries against continuing their provocative activities near Russia's borders and bringing weapons into Ukraine.
According to TASS, Peskov said in a television interview today: "NATO must stop its provocative activity and stop spreading and developing its political and military infrastructure near our borders."
Regarding the measures that must be taken to resolve the current tense situation between Russia and the alliance countries, Peskov noted that “the solution and the way out exists, and the United States and its allies should stop concentrating the military grip on the Russian borders and stop supplying Ukraine with modern weapons in a way that encourages it to carry out crazy actions.”
The Russian ambassador to Washington, Anatoly Antonov, had earlier warned of US plans to arm Ukraine and stressed that such a step would not help ease tension and would exacerbate the situation in the Donbass region.
Earlier, the United States and Ukraine signed a new strategic partnership pact, while US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken pledged to continue providing military assistance to Kiev, including lethal weapons.
On the other hand, with regard to the Russian Foreign Ministry's publication of correspondence about the organization of a summit of the Normandy Quartet, Peskov considered that this step was unconventional for diplomacy, brilliant and decisive.
Peskov added: "What is happening now in global diplomacy has not happened before, and for this very reason we see a lot of cunning and cunning in it," noting that this Russian action came against the backdrop of public accusations of inaction by Moscow.
Two days ago, the Russian Foreign Ministry published diplomatic correspondence between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the foreign ministers of France and Germany regarding the possibility of holding a new meeting in the Normandy format, in response to false information and news published on this issue by other countries about Moscow's position on holding the meeting.
