A burning sauna triggered a large-scale fire brigade operation in Heimstetten on Saturday.
Presumably because of a technical defect, the sauna in the basement of a residential building in Heimstetten caught fire on Saturday afternoon around 1.30 p.m.
According to the fire brigade, the owner noticed the fire, with presence of mind closed the door to the sauna and alerted the fire brigade.
23 emergency services from the Heimstetten fire brigade and 14 emergency services from Kirchheim arrived immediately and extinguished the flames, thus preventing the fire from spreading to the other floors.
Nevertheless, the entire house was completely smoky and is currently uninhabitable.
The mission was over after around three hours.
Particularly bitter: the house owners took over the sauna from the previous owner and did not even use it.
