Polling stations opened their doors this morning to voters in the second round of the presidential elections in Bulgaria.
According to the Russia Today website, about 13,000 polling stations receive about 6.7 million voters who have the right to vote, which takes place in 399 of the centers using special machines, and another 750 polling points will operate in 68 countries around the world.
The current President Rumen Radev, who was nominated by an initiative committee with the participation of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and some other political organizations, as well as Anastas Gerdjikov, President of Sofia University, whose candidacy is supported by the former ruling party (Citizens for European Development in Bulgaria), are competing for the position of Head of State in this round.
In the first round of the elections that took place on the 14th of last month, Radev received 49.41 percent of the vote, while Gerdjikov received 22.82 percent.
To win in the second round, a simple majority of votes must be obtained. The turnout does not affect the results of the vote.
