Just before Hollywood's aging stars hang their hats, badges, guns and whip forever, more and more mythical action movies and adventures from the eighties are finally getting the last pledges.
Their main purpose is to elaborate on the strings of nostalgia of the audience that grew up on these films, but perhaps, just maybe, to make way for a new generation of stars who might take the baton in spin-offs.
Here are 6 examples of cinematic projects that will be released in the next two years and fall into exactly this category.
"The Demon Mowers: The Life After"
Departure date:
25.11.2021
After "Demon Mowers" from 2016 failed at the box office, it was decided to produce another film that would be completely ignored and would actually be a sequel to the first pair of films from the 80s.
While the plot will focus on teens who will serve as the next generation of demon mowers, watch out for exciting guest appearances by all the original stars (except the late Harold Ramis).
Another closing circle: The director of the new film is Jason Reitman, the son of Ivan, who directed the original hits.
Prequel to "The Predator"
Release Date: Summer 2022
Arnold Schwarzenegger may not be back to fighting the aliens that made him one of the great action stars of the eighties, but it's still worth mentioning that a prequel to "The Predator" called Prey will hit screens next summer and take place in the 18th century.
An Indian warrior named Narrow (actress Amber Midthender) will try to protect her tribe from the predators, which turns out to have been here long before we thought.

The first image from the film was unveiled a few days ago, and it was also reported that the film will not reach theaters, but will go to the streaming service Hulu, which is owned by Disney.
"Unforgettable 4"
Departure date: 2022
Not an eighties hit, but the whole idea of this series is to pay homage to the action movies and stars of that era.
The disappointing news is that Sylvester Stallone will appear in a supporting role, while the character of Jason Staitham will take command of the aging gang of warriors.

For Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture will be reunited, and with the newcomers to the series are Fifty Cent, Andy Garcia, martial arts star Tony Jae and Megan Fox.
"Indiana Jones 5"
Departure date: July 30, 2023
By the time this film comes out, Harrison Ford will already be 81. He's likely not to participate in too many action scenes as the adventurous archaeologist with the hat and whip, and would not be surprised if his role in the film is secondary and intended to transfer the baton to a character played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Mads Mickelsen ("Hannibal") will also star.
The plot is considered one of Hollywood's best kept secrets, but it has been reported that Jones will fight the Nazis this time as well, whether it's flashbacks or a stubborn theory that involves time travel.
"The Beverly Hills Cop 4"
Release Date: Probably 2023
Eddie Murphy will step into the shoes of Officer Axel Foley for the fourth time, who first talks (and a lot) and then shoots (too much), in a film that will be launched on Netflix.
"The Beverly Hills Cop,"
The filming has not yet started and the script has not yet been completed, but it is known that the directors of this comic action pledge are the duo Adil al-Arabi and Bilal Fallah, who are also responsible for a similar pledge - "Bad guys forever" from 2020.
"Lethal Weapon 5"
Departure date: Not yet delivered
Mel Gibson has been announced as the director of the fifth and final episode of the iconic action film series, with him and Danny Glover returning to play detective duo Martin Riggs and Roger Marteau, respectively.
The details of the plot have not been released and the production is just beginning, but this time, when Glover is already 75, Marteau can definitely say that he is "already too old for this **," and we will take him seriously.
