Homs - Sana
In the midst of the Crusades that raged for two centuries in our region, history records a meeting that took place between the Ayyubid Sultan al-Kamil and Saint Francis of Assisi in the year 1219, which constituted a station for rejecting violence and wars and calling for a life of brotherhood and love.
This meeting was embodied in the exhibition of Francis and the Sultan, who traveled between a number of governorates and landed today in the Church of the Blessed Virgin Umm al-Zinar in Old Homs, in the presence of my family.
The exhibition, according to the pioneers of Zeno, the exhibition official in Syria, includes a number of paintings that embody a time period dating back to the meeting between Sultan al-Kamel and Saint Francis in a time of bloody wars, where they reached treaties that are the first of their kind, noting that the exhibition is a message to the world that dialogue is a path to peace and acceptance of the other.
For his part, Father Zuhri Khazal, priest of the Umm al-Zinar Church, indicated that the exhibition is an expression of national unity among the Syrian people and an affirmation of the Syrians’ will that they are the children of life despite the harsh war that has passed through the country. Our land, appreciating the efforts of all the parties in charge of the exhibition, especially the Ministry of Culture and the Franciscan friars, who, through the exhibition, sent a message to the whole world that we are children of peace and love.
For his part, Farhan Al-Naqoura, the exhibition supervisor in Homs, drew attention to the paintings included in the exhibition, in a picture that embodies the one Syrian family in all its sects throughout the ages, where coexistence and no one cancels the other and we accept each other and talk.
