Tian Feilong, director of the National Hong Kong and Macau Research Association, recently proposed that the total voter turnout rate can be up to 40% by using a weighted method to calculate the voting rate, but this was refuted by many establishments.
Ye Guoqian, a member of the Executive Council and the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong, today (21) did not name him to criticize Tian's suggestions as "boring," "self-deception," and "meaningless", and emphasized that the turnout rate should reflect reality.
He estimated that the voter turnout in direct elections in this year's regional elections will definitely be lower than in previous years, and I believe it will be around 30%.
Tian Feilong recently suggested that the voting rate of the Legislative Council elections can be weighted, and the voting rates of mixed district direct elections, election committees, and functional constituencies can be calculated together.
When receiving enquiries, Ye Guoqian criticized the relevant remarks as "self-deception", saying that direct elections and functional constituencies have always calculated turnout rates separately.
He said that Tian Feilong as a scholar has the right to put forward opinions, but he bluntly said, "I don’t understand that it’s a topic. What about 30%, 40%, and 50% of the voter turnout?" He also pointed out that the voting rate of the Legislative Council Election Committee may be At 90%, direct elections by districts are lower than in the past, and it is more appropriate to calculate separately.
Legislative Council elections are held in December.

Ye Guoqian: Port voting does not help increase turnout
As for the port voting arrangements, Ye Guoqian believes that it will not help to increase the turnout rate. It is estimated that there are not many voters who go to the port to vote, and it will have little effect on the election results.
Tian Feilong wrote earlier that under the new electoral system, what the central government wants to create is "skillful patriots," not rubber stamps or "loyalty waste."
