At around 2.30 p.m., a 61-year-old German hiked with her 56-year-old partner in the Chiemgau Alps, in the municipality of Samerberg (district of Rosenheim), not far from the border with Austria.
The two went towards the Genossenschaftsalm, where they had leased a hut.
This was announced by the Tyrolean police.

According to the current state of the investigation, the woman began to slide in the wooded area, she fell about 200 meters through a gully that was about 35 degrees and remained lying above the Unterwiesenalm in the municipality of Erl (Austria).
The rescue chain was set in motion by her companion after the accident, but the woman died at the scene of the accident despite resuscitation measures.
The hiker's corpse was flown to Erl by the police helicopter crew; the escort was looked after by the crisis intervention team.
