The Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China passed a historical resolution, summarizing the historical experience of the Chinese Communist Party for a century of struggle. The emphasis was on "people first," indicating that it will unswervingly follow the path of common prosperity for all people.

China has entered a new stage of development, and "shared prosperity" is becoming a core issue. The tenth meeting of the Central Finance and Economics Committee held in August this year listed common prosperity as the CCP's second centenary focus of work.

In Hong Kong, due to historical impressions and one-sided perceptions, many people’s first reaction will question whether "total prosperity" is going back to the path of "communism," or that the relevant concepts have nothing to do with the capitalist system of Hong Kong.

However, when Hong Kong has been facing deep-seated contradictions such as disparity between the rich and the poor and unequal distribution for many years, the trend of an M-shaped society has become more and more serious day by day. Does the central government's proposal of "share wealth" also give Hong Kong some enlightenment?

Will "common prosperity" also become the solution to Hong Kong's social problems?

Dialogue with Wang Jixian|Northern Metropolis: Cool Thinking under the Hot Spots

The "Northern Metropolis Development Strategy" is undoubtedly the biggest highlight of this year's Special Administrative Region Government's "Policy Address", and it also caused hot talk in the city.

As the former urban fringe area, the development potential of New Territories North has been neglected, and some of the newly developed towns, such as Tuen Mun, Yuen Long, Tin Shui Wai, etc., have also been forced to endure due to improper planning and hollowing out of the industry. "Separation of work and residence" and insufficient community facilities.

How to avoid the above-mentioned shortcomings in the planning and construction of the northern metropolitan area in the future?

What role does the transportation infrastructure play?

How to support the industry to land in the zone?

How can Hong Kong maintain its own characteristics while cooperating with Shenzhen?

"Hong Kong 01" has an exclusive dialogue with Wang Jixian, research director of the Hong Kong Center in the Greater Bay Area, to answer the above questions one by one.

Scholars talk about the CCP’s "third historical resolution"

Last Tuesday (November 16), the "Resolution of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China on Major Achievements and Historical Experience of the Party's Centennial Struggle", known as the third historical resolution in the history of the Communist Party of China, was officially announced.

Although the official took the initiative to clarify the difference between this resolution and the previous two resolutions and why the focus has fallen after 2012, it still sparked a wave of criticism outside the firewall.

Critics, as always, believe that the main purpose of this resolution is nothing more than "two establishments", namely: establishing Xi Jinping's core position and establishing the theoretical guiding position of Xi Jinping's thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era.

How should we understand the "third historical resolution" of the Chinese Communist Party in the past 100 years?

In addition to the "two establishments", what kind of theoretical, historical, and realistic logic is contained in this resolution?

"Hong Kong 01" interviewed Gu Qingyang, associate professor of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore, and Jiang Xinli, an honorary professor at Taiwan's Sun Yat-sen University and Fo Guang University on these issues.

Current Political Monographs | Xi Bai’s Meeting, the Wind Continues to Blow, Reconciling China and the United States Can’t Only Rely on Dialogue

On the morning of November 16, Beijing time, Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Biden held the first summit since the latter came to power.

This video conversation of more than three hours continued the trend of "blowing warm air" since the call between the two in September.

Xi Jinping called Biden as an "old friend," and Biden himself stated that he "does not seek to change China's system."

Judging from the draft after the meeting, the summit focused on communication and deepening understanding between the two Xi and Bai. It is the maintenance of personal relationships more than the cooperation of actual affairs.

To the outside world, the outcome of this summit can only be a retreat to ease Sino-US relations, and it has no obvious impact on the substantive issues between China and the United States.

People in Focus | "Rebellious" Sara paving the way for the Duterte family?

The Philippines will hold a presidential election in May next year. Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte announced the election of Bongbong Marcos, who will compete for the vice president and the presidency.

It was originally expected that Sara, who is leading the polls, would contend for the presidential position and let her father Rodrigo Duterte, who would resign from the presidential throne, elect the vice president. Why did she "defy" her father's wishes after a long period of setbacks? Willing to be someone else's deputy?

If Sarah can accumulate more political capital in the position of vice president and run for president in 2028, he may be able to more effectively continue and expand the influence of Duterte's political family.

Trend of Thought | What kind of Anita Mui are we remembering?

The movie "Anita Mui" was released, evoking countless memories.

There was a scene like this in both movies and reality: Anita Mui stood on the stage and asked the audience profoundly, if one day when everyone looks at the dark night sky, they will still remember that she once brought everyone a little bit. Happy singer?

The box office on the first day of "Anita Mui" may be the best comfort to this superstar. All Hong Kong people who have been touched by her singing and acting have never forgotten her.

However, when we think of Anita Mui, it has nothing to do with the film about Anita Mui's life, but has something to do with the blank or avoidance of this movie...
