"We are against the world": Is this the turning point of LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers? | Israel today

2021-11-22T21:10:08.844Z

While the team he built for himself in Los Angeles is faltering, the dismissal against Detroit gives King James a great opportunity to unite the Lakers under a "worse" image, on the way to perhaps a fifth ring in his career

What a thing it must be to be Baron James.

It's not enough that even before graduating from high school all of America built it to be the next big thing in all of American sports, and he still managed to turn the perhaps greatest load of expectations in history into a career that many consider great in basketball history - even now, almost 20 years into this career. More want to achieve could have been enough for a lifetime.

championship?

He has "only" four.

No doubt he needs five, maybe even, you know, six.

As of Monday night, he is missing 2,838 points to equal Karim Abdul-Jabbar at the top of the list of scenes in all of NBA history.

That means 25 points per game over 114 games (season and a half) and he passes it.

Oh yeah, and he also wants in two years to play with his son on the same team in the NBA.

Did we forget something?

Hm.

To be a billionaire.

And own an NBA team.

Now, imagine the weight of this wish list, on top of everything he has already faced and achieved - but that every morning when he gets to work he sees Russell Westbrook there, probably the most frustrating player he has ever stepped on a basketball court.

True, it's LeBron Westbrook's fault of the Lakers - he pushed for a trade that brought him instead of the boy from Sacramento (who is much better suited to play alongside James).

And the physical and perhaps even mental crunchiness of LA's other star, Anthony Davis, may have been enough to help bring LeBron his fourth ring in the Orlando bubble games, but it certainly does not help James' peace of mind.

and yet.

Still!

Somehow!

Still, he does maintain peace of mind.

Even when his action is a little too aggressive, he opens his eyebrows at an opposing player - as he did on Sunday night, when he caused Isaiah Stewart to bleed dramatically all over his face, he manages to recover quickly, reach out, and offer an apology.

But Stuart did not accept that apology and cracked down on a series of insane attempts to get as far as LeBron in what appeared to be a strong desire to attack him.

This of course led to quite a stir on the hardwood floors in Detroit.

And somehow, out of all this mess it came out that James was (rightly) removed for only the second time in his career.

And the comeback against the Pistons' poor team was led by Westbrook and Davis, en route to victory in a game that James finished with 10 points and minus 15 in his time on the field.

And now, you are definitely welcome to expect Melbourne James to take this situation and produce something out of it.

Landmark.

Maybe a turning point.

Since joining the Lakers he has been eligible and a partner in only 70% of the games.

He will celebrate 37 next month, so it is not a figure that is expected to improve.

And when the limping Lakers he built struggles when he's not on the floor, such an emotionally charged away win, which includes a makeover in which Westbrook and Davis mentioned what a team with two All-Stars can look like, is an opportunity to unite the ranks behind a slightly more "bad", slightly more "image" we are against the world ".

True, LeBron is not really bad.

And when he got into that character in Miami it did him no good.

And true, the Lakers are really not against the world, this is one of the most popular teams in the world.

But these narratives are often false anyway and are only meant to produce unity and motivation.

Do not be surprised if this is exactly what LeBron will try to derive from this whole event.
