Iranian security forces seized more than 1.5 tons of opium in two residential homes in Kankan city, Bushehr Province, southern Iran.
The Iranian Fars news agency quoted the city's public prosecutor, Akbar Ahmadi, as telling reporters, "The continuous monitoring operations by the General Department of Security in the province began over several months for one of the active and large drug gangs that carried out the operations of storing, unloading and smuggling heavy shipments of opium to the provinces in the deep The country,” noting that the aforementioned gang was attacked in an intelligence strike during which a large shipment of opium, estimated at more than one and a half tons, was seized in two houses in the city of Kankan.
Ahmadi indicated that the necessary judicial measures have been taken to arrest the main perpetrators of the drug smuggling gang, who are from cities in southern Fars Province of Iran.
