The organization announced a ban on women participating in dramas on television and stated that they must appear on screen in a hijab • A spokesman for the organization explained that these are only guidelines for the public and not legislation

The Taliban today (Monday) issued an equal set of guidelines for Afghan citizens including some decrees on the country's women population, including a ban on women participating in drama series and telenovelas.

Responsible for the new series of guidelines for the public is the Ministry of Morality and Sin Prevention, which was established in place of the Ministry of Women in the country and uses a structure that served as the ministry designed to promote women's rights in the country.

The guidelines state that films or series that do not reflect the values of Islam should not appear on local television networks and women participating in any type of television program must appear in "full Islamic attire."

The guidelines also announced a sweeping ban on any visual representation of the Prophet Muhammad as well as other figures of saints in Islam.

"These are not laws or regulations but only recommendations designed to let the population understand the spirit of power," explained Taliban spokesman Khakif Mujajik.

The Taliban took control of the country in August and although it promised not to infringe on women's rights, it shut down the country's de facto women's education system without outlawing women's education, and its men took revenge against women who served as judges under the previous regime.

In addition, the Kabul Municipality under its new management has announced that its offices are closed to facts and that women will not be allowed to continue working in the municipality buildings.

The reasoning given for the decision is security, but it reflects a long line of decision-making delays that exclude women from public life in the country.
