Polish soldiers again fought off migrants who wanted to cross the border from Belarus. According to Poland's defense minister, there is "no question that these attacks are being controlled by the Belarusian authorities".

According to the Polish border guards, another incident occurred at the Belarusian-Polish border: A group of around 150 migrants tried in vain to break through the border barriers from Belarus and get into the EU.

The incident occurred on Monday night near the town of Dubicze Cerkiewne, the authority said on Twitter.

"The attack on the Polish border was supervised by the Belarusian security forces." Since Poland does not allow journalists into the area, the information cannot be independently verified.

Such reports are currently increasing.

Independently of one another, three young Iraqis told SPIEGEL that soldiers in ski masks had offered to take them to the border with Poland.

Some of them drove along, now some of the refugees are no longer available.

It seems as if Belarus is still trying to put pressure on the border.

Poland's Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak had already accused the neighboring country of changing its strategy on Saturday.

“Now the migrants and the Belarusian authorities have used a new method.

Smaller groups of people are trying to cross the border in many places, ”he told RMF FM.

There is "no question that these attacks are being controlled by the Belarusian authorities."

The European Union accuses the Belarusian ruler, Alexander Lukashenko, of bringing migrants from crisis regions to the EU's external border in an organized manner in order to put pressure on the West.

The people from Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan entered Belarus on tourist visas.

Poland's President Andrzej Duda told Sieci magazine that Lukashenko may be targeting Poland "because we are defending the border hard and the regime in Minsk is interested in showing a physical confrontation with the West."

Fear of the corona outbreak

In Belarus, supplies for migrants started again in the morning at an emergency shelter in Brusgi on the border with Poland.

Pictures from the state agency Belta showed soldiers distributing hot tea, cookies, yogurt and curd.

An estimated 2000 people use the warehouse as a temporary sleeping place.

It is unclear how things will go on with the migrants in the long term.

Experts from the World Health Organization are currently in Belarus.

They wanted to clarify how the WHO could help in the crisis.

According to the authorities, around a hundred migrants have already been taken to hospitals, including people with pneumonia.

There is great concern about a corona outbreak in the emergency accommodation.
