The State Commission of Inquiry into the Mount Meron disaster today (Monday) presented Prime Minister Naftali Bennett with interim recommendations for preparations for the upcoming Lag B'Omer celebration. Except for drinking, the
recommendations come in accordance with the government's decision to establish a committee, which stipulates, among other things, that "if necessary, the committee will consider publishing an interim report to allow for appropriate preparations for the next celebration event."
The establishment of the committee in June states that its functions will be to investigate "the chain of events and determine findings and conclusions regarding all aspects of the event, including the following matters: the decision-making circles that led to the approval of the event and its outline, "Religious worship events and the places used by the public to hold them, including places that are used for multi-participant events."
The committee's budget will be NIS 6 million, and five standards will be allocated to it.

In the heaviest civil disaster in the history of the country, which took place during the celebrations of the Rashbi celebration on the night of Lag B'Omer, on the night of April 29-30, 45 men and children perished and more than a hundred people were injured.
This is due to squeezing and suffocation caused due to severe overcrowding in one of the passages in the compound.
