Chemicals leaked in a production facility in Berlin-Charlottenburg.
The fire brigade was on duty on Monday morning with 85 people on the corner of Franklinstrasse and Salzufer.
Among them were specialists from the technical service who are familiar with such cases, as a spokesman announced.
The chemical was the rather harmless disinfectant peracetic acid, according to the fire department.
Berlin - people were not injured, there was also no danger for residents, said a spokesman.
Initially, there was talk of the gas hydrogen chloride, but that was not true, said the spokesman.
Cosmetic articles are manufactured in the company.
Because steam was building up, the fire brigade was alerted at around 9:30 a.m.
The firefighters wore appropriate protective clothing for safety reasons.
Shortly afterwards, the disinfectant stopped leaking.
